WELCOME TO THE PARISH OF PARK RYNIE.
The Catholic Parish of Park Rynie has been in existence for over 60 years. It covers the area of Park Rynie, Scottburgh & Pennington and their immediate surroundings. There are two churches in the parish: Our Lady of the Angels in Park Rynie & St Clare’s in Scottburgh. Mass for Sunday is held in English at 17h30 on the Saturday at St Clare’s & 08h00 on Sunday at Our lady of the Angels. Mass in Zulu is at 10h00 on a Sunday at Our Lady of the Angels. The feast days of the two churches are held in August. Masses are also held during the week at the churches & monthly at two of the retirement centres.
Father Wilfred Mfayela, a Diocesan Priest of Mariannhill has been the parish priest since 2008. We are in the Diocese of Mariannhill; Bishop Pius Mlungisi Dlungwane is currently the bishop.
This leaflet is to inform you of what is happening & where you can connect & get involved. The amount of involvement you have depends on yourself & how you connect & integrate with the parish. The weekly newsletter on the back of the Catholic Link serves to inform on current events.
Parishes are always looking for people with skills, talents & connections that can help it to run smoothly & play its role in the community. If you have something to offer, please let us know.

Parish Office: Contact Maria for administrative queries & bookings for weddings or funerals, & hiring of hall, as well as reservation of a niche or plaque in the Wall of Remembrance.
As this is a holiday & retirement area, there are a lot of visitors & people that spend a short time in the parish. Often new residents of the area are not noticed by other parishioners as they may be thought to be holiday makers. For this reason it is important to make yourself known to others & take initiative to get involved in the activities of the parish. ‘The best criticism of the bad is the practice of the better. Oppositional energy only creates more of the same.’
