Morester Children Home

General information

In 1976 twelve children were removed from two families in Newcastle, but there were no place to put the children together. This brought Rev. Ouboet Wessels from the Dutch Reformed Church to the point to start organizing and raising funds for the building of a Children's Home. Morester Ladysmith was opened in August 1981. In January 2005 Morester Newcastle was opened primarily to accommodate children in need who attend the Tugela School for special educational needs in Newcastle. In September 2011 Morester incorporated Home Meah, a house for babies in need in Newcastle.

Currently, Rev. Gerhard Botha is the Director of Morester Child & Youth Care Centre. Karen van Bosch is the Facility Manager and Tina Lombard is our public Relations Officer.
